Materials

Silk

Sericulture, or the production of silk, involves two raw, natural ingredients: silkworms and mulberry leaves. Silkworms eat the leaves for 42 days before spinning themselves into a
cocoon. Once the worms are pupating, the cocoons are soaked in hot water, and the silk is painstakingly extracted from the cocoons. Many of our designers source the silk for their scarves from Como, Italy. Though not the leader in the world’s silk production, Como still boasts finer and consistent quality.

Wool

Wool is a textile fiber that is largely supplied by sheep. It is more insulating, and more absorbent than cotton. Curiously, it also boasts a lower rate of flame spread, which is why it is
the material of choice when laying down carpet for aircraft, or why it is the favoured material for firemen and soldiers. The wool in our products are finer things: softer, and oftentimes handmade. They’re definitely closer to works of arts compared to their more robust counterparts, but they’ll still keep you warm and comfortable during the winter!
