Who We Are
Chris Silvera
Chris Silvera was born in rural north coast Jamaica, at a time when things were done the right way – no shortcuts, no fillers, no artificial flavours. Chris learned the foundational flavours of pimento, nutmeg, scotch bonnet peppers, ginger, thyme, scallion and many other herbs and spices which were all available in the family backyard.
With over 35 years of experience in the culinary arts, Chris has demonstrated his culinary flair from cooking at the McMichael Art Gallery to being co-owner of the restaurant Nyce n Spicee in Niagara Falls.
For the past 15 years, he has volunteered his time and energy cooking for the Caribbean Children’s Foundation’s boat cruise and summer lime. He has also prepared meals for the homeless at Evangel Hall. He provides a variety of Caribbean fusion food on the Backyardigan Food Truck and caters many special events.
Rema Singh
Cakes, cookies and cupcakes – OH MY! Rema has developed a second career in baking and has been delivering a variety of delectable desserts to her family, friends and co-workers. She has been baking up a storm for the last 5 years for events and celebrations such as weddings, birthdays and a host of parties. People ask for her desserts by name.
From cherry, oreo and pecan pie cheesecakes to her famous toblerone shortbread cookies (a staple at Christmas time), Rema is able to cater to any of your sweet tooth cravings where taste and creativity are a priority.
When she’s not baking you will find Rema at the gym shedding those extra pounds so she can sample more tantilizing and delicious desserts.
